The Ports Authority Police (Western) Command, Apapa, Lagos, has witnessed a historic leadership transition with the assumption of duty by Commissioner of Police Toyin Agbaminoja, the 33rd and first female Commissioner to head the Command.
CP Agbaminoja, who officially took over on October 16, 2025, succeeds AIG Olanrewaju Olawale Ishola, who recently retired from active service after an illustrious career.
A seasoned law enforcement officer with over 30 years of distinguished service, CP Agbaminoja joined the Nigeria Police Force in 1994 as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police. A proud daughter of Owo, Ondo State, she holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Language from the University of Ilorin.
Her career has been marked by excellence and pioneering achievements across operational, investigative, and administrative spheres from the Kwara State Police Command and IGP Monitoring Unit in Abuja to the Special Fraud Unit (SFU), Ikoyi, and the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID).
Notably, she previously served at the Ports Authority Police Command in various capacities, including DPO Roro Port Division, Command Traffic Officer, and Area Commander, Western Ports making her return as Commissioner both symbolic and strategic.

Throughout her trailblazing journey, CP Agbaminoja has shattered multiple glass ceilings, becoming:
• The first female Area Commander, Area ‘M’ Idimu (2017)
• The first female Head of Zonal CID, Zone 2, Onikan (2021)
• The first female DCP at the Airport Command (2023) and Oyo State CID (2024)
Before her latest appointment, she served as the Commissioner of Police, Special Enquiry Bureau, FCID, Alagbon, following her promotion in February 2025.
Upon assuming office, CP Agbaminoja pledged to strengthen collaboration with stakeholders in the maritime industry, promising to enhance port security, improve operational efficiency, and sustain a safe environment conducive to trade and economic growth.

“We will build on existing frameworks to ensure the ports remain safe, efficient, and aligned with national economic aspirations,” she affirmed.
Her appointment is widely seen as a testament to the Nigeria Police Force’s growing commitment to gender inclusion, professionalism, and leadership excellence within its ranks.
