The newly inaugurated Governing Board of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) has pledged full support to the Agency’s Executive Management in fulfilling its mandate of driving growth in Nigeria’s maritime sector and actualising a robust Blue Economy.

At their maiden meeting in Lagos, Board Chairman, Hon. Yusuf Hamisu Abubakar, said the new team is ready to provide unwavering support to NIMASA’s leadership to ensure Nigeria fully harnesses the potentials of the Blue Economy.

“With the performance bond signed between the Agency and the Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy serving as our scorecard, we are determined to work hand-in-hand with Management to shape policies and achieve results that will transform the sector,” Abubakar declared.

He expressed confidence in the Executive Management, noting that the Board’s involvement would help fast-track key initiatives to position Nigeria as a maritime powerhouse.

Welcoming the Board, NIMASA Director General/CEO, Dr. Dayo Mobereola, reaffirmed the Agency’s core mission to regulate shipping, ensure maritime safety and security, and protect the marine environment.

“The backing of the Governing Board will strengthen our capacity to implement the Federal Government’s vision for a sustainable Blue Economy.”

“We will also intensify collaboration with stakeholders to boost investment, upgrade maritime infrastructure, and build capacity in the secto,” Mobereola said.
