Nigeria’s maritime community is gearing up for one of its most anticipated gatherings of the year as the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, CON, has been announced as the Special Guest of Honour for the launch of the Maritime Reporters Association of Nigeria’s (MARAN) new publication, “50 Drivers of Nigeria’s Marine and Blue Economy.”

The unveiling is scheduled for Thursday, December 4, 2025, at Providence Hotel, Ikeja GRA, Lagos, with industry leaders, policymakers, and investors expected to grace the grand event.

In a statement on Monday, MARAN President Mr. Godfrey Bivbere confirmed that the ceremony will be chaired by former Minister of Interior and Chairman of Integrated Oil and Gas, Capt. Emmanuel Iheanacho, whose presence further elevates the profile of the launch.

Bivbere said the participation of both Oyetola and Iheanacho highlights the book’s strategic importance at a time Nigeria is accelerating efforts to reposition its marine and blue economy for sustainable growth.

Describing the publication as a “comprehensive compendium,” he noted that the book captures the individuals, agencies, and organisations steering the transformation of Nigeria’s maritime sector.

“This indispensable volume educates industry professionals on the profound history and current opportunities within the sector, spotlighting the people and institutions whose contributions continue to drive national development.

“With the book, readers can discover how the blue economy’s past is paving the way for a promising future,” Bivbere stated.

According to him, “50 Drivers of Nigeria’s Marine and Blue Economy” is the product of months of rigorous research and editorial work, documenting the achievements and innovations of the sector’s 50 most influential personalities.

The December 4 launch is expected to attract a distinguished audience comprising government officials, regulators, shipowners, freight forwarders, terminal operators, academics, and investors making it one of the biggest maritime leadership gatherings in recent years.

Bivbere assured that preparations are in full swing to deliver a world-class event that celebrates excellence, professionalism, and the individuals shaping Nigeria’s maritime future.
