Nigeria’s transport sector must embrace innovation, technology, and sustainability to keep pace with the demands of a modern economy that was the charge from Mr. Fola Tinubu, Managing Director of Primero Transport Services and Chairman of the Nigeria Transport Infrastructure Summit 2025.
Speaking at the opening of the summit held at the Providence Hotel, GRA, Ikeja, Lagos, Tinubu said it was time for Nigeria to rethink how people and goods move, stressing that transport infrastructure must evolve beyond outdated systems to drive trade, boost connectivity, and fuel national development.
“Transportation is not just about moving people or goods; it is about connecting lives, driving trade, and fueling development, drawing applause from industry leaders across aviation, maritime, rail, and road sectors,” Tinubu declared,
With the theme “Nigeria’s Transport Infrastructure: Innovation for a Sustainable Future,” the summit organised by JustAlive Communications Limited brought together top policymakers, private sector players, and development partners to chart a new course for the nation’s transport ecosystem.
Tinubu highlighted electric buses, smart ticketing, intelligent traffic systems, and cleaner energy as the future of mobility, saying Nigeria has the ingenuity to replicate global successes if collaboration becomes a national habit.
“We have the talent and creativity to do the same in Nigeria. What we need is collaboration,” he said.
He called on the government and private sector to form bold partnerships that would turn Nigeria’s transport challenges into opportunities, from fixing poor road networks to revitalising rail systems and unlocking the potential of inland waterways.
“No single company or government agency can do it alone. It takes partnership, policy support, and a shared vision to build a truly integrated transport system,” Tinubu noted.
