The Tincan Island Port Command of the Nigeria Customs Service has set a new record, raking in a staggering ₦16.4 billion in just one day, thanks to the successful deployment of its digital platform, the Unified Customs Management System (UCMS), popularly known as B’Odogwu.
The feat, achieved on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, underscores the growing impact of technology in revolutionizing Nigeria’s port operations.
Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Frank Onyeka, described the breakthrough as “a clear win for technological efficiency and collaboration,” stressing that the system has transformed revenue collection, trade facilitation, and compliance.
According to Onyeka, B’Odogwu has simplified cargo clearance by integrating payment platforms, valuation, and monitoring processes under a single digital interface.
“This achievement is not just about the numbers. It reflects the game changing role of B’Odogwu in modernizing port operations while ensuring transparency and efficiency,” he said.
The system’s ability to process payments and clear cargo in real time has eliminated delays and cut through administrative bottlenecks that have long plagued port users.
Comptroller Onyeka also commended the collaboration with stakeholders, including shipping companies, terminal operators, licensed agents, and regulatory agencies which he said was crucial in achieving seamless, compliant, and business-friendly port operations.
